    The August class was really fun, as you can see here with Krista Clayton receiving a group session on her knee.
    Krista is a neighbor of Lisa who wrote two great stories for our last issue. Krista had experienced QT from Lisa and decided that she wanted to be able to give help to her family in the same way that Lisa had been doing for her.     Hello Julie, Just want to let you know how I am doing since taking your video course on QT. With the help of QT have been able to reduce greatly the amount of pain that I have in my back. I still do take pain medication but a lot less and some days none! What a difference it has made in my life! Also QT has enabled me to relax. When I start getting stressed and anxious I just stop, take a deep breath, and "go" to my peaceful place. Every time I start running energy I can feel all the tension go away.     And after the class I attended in August I had a chance to use Quantum-Touch®. On Tuesday two co-workers and I were returning from lunch when one of the women, who I will call Nancy, slipped on an unseen spot of grease on the hallway floor, causing her to twist her ankle and land very hard on one knee. After helping Nancy up from the floor I assisted her in walking the very short distance to her office where I asked her to be seated. I performed a quick assessment of Nancy's knee and ankle and found both to be red and beginning to swell so I asked Nancy to gauge her pain on a scale of 1-10 and she replied "a 7." I began running energy into my hands and performed Quantum-Touch® on her knee during which both she and I felt several movements within the structures in the knee. Nancy commented that she felt movement in her knee even though I was just lightly touching her with my hands. I then subsequently ran energy into Nancy's ankle were movement was again felt. After applying Quantum-Touch for 15 minutes to the affected areas we observed that the redness and swelling had reduced in both areas and Nancy reported that her pain was now a "2." Nancy declined my suggestion of her seeking medical attention for her injuries so I checked on her 2 hours later to see how she was. Nancy told me she was fine, that she had felt some additional movement in her knee and ankle, and that the redness and swelling were now completely gone.                   -  Jim Floyd

    Recently I was able to attend a Laughter Yoga workshop taught by Sebastien Gendry in Chicago. Being of the belief that Laughter is incredible medicine for the body and soul, I was trained in this one weekend to be a Laughter Yoga Leader. Now that I am "officially" able to create an environment where for no "reason" we can get the full benefits of laughter. Laughter is beneficial physically, mentally and emotionally. Now I am taking the first step and hosting a Laughter Club at Your Well Being twice a month.
    And then today just as I was gathering my thoughts to write the article I opened my email and voila... my Abraham-Hicks daily quote...
    "We are really advocates of just getting as happy as you can be; which takes care of everything. Even if you don't have reason to be happy; make it up. Fantasize it. Make a decision that you're going to be happy one way or another; no matter what. “No matter what, I'm going to be happy! If I have to ignore everybody; if I have to never watch television again; if I have to never pick up a newspaper again, I'm going to be happy. If I never have to see that person's face again, I'm going to be happy. If I have to see that person's face, I'm going to find something to see in that person's face that makes me happy. I'm going to be happy. I'm going to be happy. I'm going to be happy.”

     Fix Your Funny Bone . . . by Barbara Haines
    When my phone rang one afternoon a couple weeks ago, I had no idea what was about to land in my lap. Julie asked, “Have you ever heard of Laughter Yoga?” Oddly enough I had, during a National Public Radio broadcast about how a regiment of U.N. troops were using it with remarkable results in a Palestinian refugee school in Lebanon. “Great!” she said, “There’s a class that starts in three days in Chicago—want to go?”

    Well, I must have been a dog in a past lifetime because all anyone has to do is ask me if I want to go for a ride somewhere and in the car I jump! Apparently, Julie had figured that out, because we were soon headed north on our little adventure to become Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders.

    Laughter Yoga was developed about fifteen years ago in India by Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician who started out to write an article about the health benefits of humor. Inspired by the results of his research for the article, he started a ‘Laughter Club’ in a local park—basically, a group of people getting together to do nothing but laugh for 15 minutes. By the end of two weeks, his group of four had grown considerably but they hit a snag: they ran out of jokes. Plus, it was obvious that not everybody reacted to any particular joke the same way; some weren’t so amused, some were even offended.

    Discouraged, Dr. Kataria went home and told his wife, a yoga instructor, about the situation. First, she told him he needed to add breathing exercises to his program, then gentle movements. Oh, and forget about the jokes. Just laugh. What an idea! Just laugh with no joke? Well, it worked. So well, that there are now over 5,000 Laughter Clubs worldwide and people everywhere are laughing their way to wellness!

    Unlike standard yoga that can take years to perfect, everyone knows how to laugh. We just don’t do enough of it. Laughter Yoga uses no ‘postures’, just breathing, laughing, and movement (all of which can be done seated). We had a great time learning this method, and by the end of the second day everyone was really into the idea of having been given permission to be silly and enjoy life again.

    What Dr. Kataria discovered was that even when you “pretend” to laugh, the brain releases endorphins and starts the cascade of neuro-peptides that create all the positive health benefits, just as if you were reacting to an actual joke or amusing event. The movements, (which can be as simple as walking), integrate the idea of having fun into your muscle memory, while the breathing helps to release old tensions and anxieties. Taken together, it’s an easy prescription to fill, and one you can take with you anywhere.

    In fact, weeks later, I’m still smiling for no reason! -Barbara
