Do you have a passion for rainbows?
Do you love pearls?  Maybe have a pearl necklace and earrings?  A bracelet perhaps?
Or even if you can't afford them, you've pined away for having pearls someday?
Have a great love of the rainbow colors contained within the Abalone shell?  abalone New Zealand by Eileen Nauman
Are drawn to shells, in particular, Conch, Abalone, Periwinkle or Spirals?
Or you love to wear shell jewelry?
Have a deep, abiding love of Dolphins?  Whales?
You are drawn to Kwan-Yin, the Chinese goddess of Compassion?
Well, if you do, then Niru is calling you.
The ancient daughter of the Ocean is trying to connect with you....read on.....

Back when the land of Mother Earth was first formed, all continents were ONE.  The oneness was symbolic on all levels; a oneness with the Great Spirit, with all living things.  That meant that there was respect between the four-legged, the two-leggeds, the winged ones, the little people (insects), and harmony with all the living things that surrounded them: sky, ocean, rock, trees and flowers.

Geologists who have be able to verify that Earth once had just one, single large land mass dubbed it: Gondwanaland.

It was then that the spirits of the sky, ocean and land worked in harmony and tandem with the two leggeds as well as with all their other relations.  One of them, Niru, was the daughter of Mother Ocean.  She worked with the dolphin and whale people, and her shells were the conch, abalone (Pua), periwinkle and cone shaped ones.

Rainbows and waterspouts were her signature and showed her moods when happy or angry.  Her color was the foamy white of the ocean wave, and the willow-green, transparent color one sees when the sun shines through the clean ocean water as it dashes its foamy life upon the golden sand.

Her place was on the most eastern side of Gondwanaland, where there two-leggeds came, along a beach, to pay her homage, give her gifts, and pray to her for healing and help.  Niru's gifts were to help humans of either gender get in touch with their feminine side and energy.  She was important to a woman who wanted to conceive, who was pregnant and prayed for an easy, uncomplicated birth or banishment from menstrual or menopausal difficulties.

And then, as the two-leggeds began to disrespect the world around them, the land began to mirror this aspect and decision.  Over millions of years, Gondwanaland began to break up through massive earthquakes and it separated into the continents we see today. The only part left of the original is Australia and New Zealand.  And it is in the South Island of New Zealand, near Dunedin, on Long Beach, where Niru's place of creation, is found.
Niru Rainbow Promise by Eileen Nauman 2003

As one walks from the parking lot toward Long Beach, you will see massive black basalt from past volcanic action, a thousand feet high above the beach area.  It is here that Niru is found.  When you come upon her place of worship, you will see black basalt that looks like a woman who has spread her thighs open to reveal not only her belly (sacral chakra), but below it, a perfectly formed apex to symbolize a woman's vaginal opening into her body.  It is at this opening, one can see a cave within it, and two seats where two people can sit and pray to her at a time.

There is a very steep rocky climb up to her altar.  But first, you must stand respectfully at the bottom of it.  I would suggest that you bring gifts; food, cornmeal, sacred sage, or what feels best to you, to give to her.  Here is the protocol for engaging her attention:

1.  First, be humble.  You are in a sacred place and on sacred land of a goddess.  You are the least powerful thing in that place.

2.  Give your name, and tell Niru you come to give her a gift, your intention to ask for her help.  Give the gift.  Set it aside on the trail, down at the bottom of the slope for her.

3.  Ask PERMISSION if you may climb that steep hill up to her altar.  Wait for an answer.  You'll get it one way or another.  If you do not receive permission, thank her anyway and ask if there is a time in the future you might come back and ask again.

4.  If Niru gives you permission, gingerly and carefully climb up her skirt to her opening.  There are two seats where you can sit.  As you get comfortable and lift your head, you will see the beach and the green, foamy ocean directly in front of you.  The roar of the ocean will surround you.

5.  Ground yourself first.  Then, close your eyes.  Ask her to come to you, to speak to you.  Ask her if she has a message for you.  Be patient. Do not hurry this.

6.  Niru may give you a message, or a healing.  Or both.  Expect nothing, receive everything.

7.  When finished, ask Niru what you can do for her.  After all, this is a two-way street.  You don't take without giving back.  If she asks for something, then fulfill her request.  If not, then give her a last, parting gift down at the bottom of her skirt before you leave.

I would like to share my experience with her.  Barbara Ward and I went in search of this cave, but my story begins before this.  This time, before I started teaching the shamanic course, I was VERY drawn to abalone or pua shell.  Much more so than ever before.  This was out of the ordinary.  I have always loved the blue, green, pearl, pink and gold colors of the shell, for sure, but not like THIS.  I have an an endless love for pearls and own a number of necklaces and earrings sets of them, too.  I ended up purchasing a pair of very rare abalone pearl earrings in Dunedin.  Abalone pearls are so very, very scarce, that I couldn't believe I could get any!  So, to say I was thrilled is an understatement!  Then, weeks later, we went to the Palmerston Butterfly Sanctuary for the day.  In the town, I found abalone chokers that were incredibly beautiful and I bought two.  The choker would go with my abalone pearl earrings.  Again, I thought this strange that I'd have this obsession for abalone jewelry all of a sudden.  But, I followed my instincts and bought them.

Bev Alexander had mentioned, during shamanic training, about caves on Long Beach.  When she said it, my wolf ears went up--and I KNEW that is where I needed to go.  Later, Barbara called several people who knew the area to try and get a 'fix' on the caves and more or less, we did--but we still had to hunt and search it out for ourselves because no one really knew the exact location, except that it was on Long Beach.

It was a rainy afternoon as we parked and trudged with Barbara's two dogs, Tess and Seven, down a well worn path that would take us from there to Long Beach.  We could hear the ocean beach crashing about half a mile in front of us as we walked the grayish white sand trail that was bracketed by thick foliage and trees on either side.  To our left were thousand foot black basalt cliffs lifting skyward.  I could see some caves in them, but they didn't feel like the right ones.  On we trudged, closer to the beach.  It was still raining, the clouds gray and white, hanging close to the dark green ocean somewhere out to our right that we couldn't see, but indeed, hear.

I checked out two possible paths, but they lead nowhere.  On the third one, it was the right one.  I went left, down it and then up....up to where Niru's cave was located.  Of course, I didn't realize it belonged to her right off the bat.  As Barbara and dogs caught up, I held out my hand and cautioned her to stop beside me.  I told her to ground herself, and to introduce herself and ask if she had permission to be here.  I did the same.  Head bowed, I closed my eyes.  I gave my name and told the spirits of the place why I was here, and did I have permission to be here at all?  I also took out a pinch of our sacred Native American tobacco and gave it as a gift and introduction for both of us.

I saw, in my third eye, a large, white apparition, about thirty feet tall, begin to form up above, in front of the cave.  At first, it just looked like a glowing white, oblong thing hovering in space.  I felt it was female.  Again, I said my name and I asked if we had a right to be here at all.  Out of this light, I saw a woman's slender arm and hand appear.  What she had in her hand was a large, beautiful conch shell that she was holding out toward me.  I held out my hand and took the proffered gift and then I pressed it into my heart chakra and said thank you.

I told Barbara what I saw.  She agreed that she felt like we were to go up to the cave as well.  I told her to go first.  The climb is dangerous and slippery when wet.  Luckily, there was a bush there and we grabbed it for support, but one did not let their focus of where the toes of their boots were to go--or one would fall.  This is a lesson is staying in one's body, being 100% grounded and focused on one step at a time--not being pulled out of your body or spacy by the energy of the cave region.  To be so lulled, one would easily break an ankle or worse in the fall.  So, the lesson to the initiate is be in your body and fully grounded--or else.  There is a time to be in the other worlds, in communion with these spirits--and there is a time to be fully in this one.  And the rain continued, so it was obvious we had to pay attention or else.

Once up on our perches, like two birds, two flat stones so we could sit comfortably, I looked up and out of the cave for the first time.  The beauty of the long, unbroken golden sand beach with the foamy white waves and their sea green color took my breath away.  I felt the rhythm of the ocean coming toward us as each group of waves thrust themselves upon the beach with such joy of union with the land.  Closing my eyes, I grounded myself deeply, for I could feel this was going to be a powerful meeting with this spirit woman.  The rain continued to fall.

As I closed my eyes, I asked this spirit woman her name.  I heard:  Niru.  It was phonetic.  In my mind, I was playing with: nyrhu, nirhu, and I wasn't about to ask her for a spelling, for I knew that she didn't know English.

"How long have you been here at your temple?" I asked.

"As long as land has been here."

        My mind whirled.  "Atlantis?"

   "Before that."

        "Lemuria?"

        "It was called One Land."

Oh, I thought, Gondwanaland, a time when all land was together.  That was OLD!  I realized I was working with a spirit who had been created at the time the Earth was very young and formative.  That made her very powerful.  And old.  And wise.  I felt her gentleness; I felt not animosity, no overt use of her power, for she held her power very quietly out of view of me.  That was a good sign, because some spirits could be nasty about it.

"Where do you come from, Niru?"

"I am the Daughter of the Ocean Mother."

"And do you work with certain things?"

  "Yes, the dolphins and whales."

"What else?"

"My symbols are the conch, the abalone, and other shells.  If you see a rainbow at sea, that is me.  If I am displeased, I will hunt you down with a water spout."

Okay, that was fair warning, I thought, and then I remembered the rainbow the other day I saw at sea....it formed there, and then came on land, toward Barbara's house where I stood on the porch, watching it.

"Yes, that was me.  I was calling you."

"Wonderful," I told her, humbled.  "It was such a beautiful rainbow."  I felt like crying because she was so soft, vulnerable, gentle and open.  "Do you have a message for me?"  I asked, wiping the tears from my closed eyes.
Niru's Rainbow Calling Us
"I would like to initiate you and honor your work for all of us."

Stunned, I sat there not believing what she said.  "Initiation?"  I wanted to make SURE I heard right.  Generally speaking, a spirit can initiate a two-legged, but it is rare and if you do say yes, that means that you're allied with it for sometime to come--in fact, forever.  And most spirits of this power, oldness and wisdom rarely give out such a statement or invitation.  In all my life, fifty-six years, I've received only one initiation, and that was at Macchu Picchu in 2000, when Huhnu Picchu accorded me the same honor.  And of course, I'm irrevocably tied to this Apu now, which has been an enriching experience for me.

"Yes, I would like to initiate you.  Do you want the initiation?"
Again, my head whirled.  I was cautious.  "If I agree, what does this mean?"
"That you will find help and healing of your feminine.  I work on the feminine in all respects."
        "In both men and women?"
        "Yes."
"I see."  I still thought about it.  It would mean that whatever this goddess worked with, I would also work with and learn about and from.  I have always loved the dolphin and whale nation forever; and maybe now, I understood why they had such a huge place in my heart and spirit.  And for sure, I had an injured feminine and I could use any and all help on that front.  Most of all, I loved her quiet, nurturing, maternal energy.  She felt very safe, warm, open and loving to me.  I really scanned her energy to see if there was anything I could pick up on that I might not like.  All I could hear was the crashing of the waves of the ocean and the rain continuing to plop and plink on the leaves around the cave opening.  Both were soothing and calming to me.  My love of the ocean has been one of my greatest loves.  Every time I could get near an ocean, I always ran to it, gave Mother Ocean a gift of crystals or food.  Being near the ocean was always healing to me.
Comparing who she was, and what she worked with against my own love of Nature, the ocean being one of my primary places that made me feel good, I told her, "Yes, I would be humbled to be initiated by you...."
I saw from the ocean, a gorgeous, transparent green color from the ocean swirling at the approaching edge of it with foamy cream colors, coming toward me.  I saw it come up the slope, and the water moved into my vagina, and shot up through my body, down into my legs and up into my torso, arms and into my head.  The water shot up and out of my crown chakra, and I saw it move skyward at startling speed, arc and then make a circle back into the ocean itself.  It was a circle, and I, a part of that never-ending circle.
Next, I saw her approach me.  She took on a more greenish-white color, still a tall, oblong glowing light about thirty feet tall.  Out of this light came her arms and hands. In them, she had gleaming, olive green kelp which she placed around my head like a crown.  Then, she produced small conch shells, periwinkle, cone and abalone shells that she placed within the shining leaves of the kelp crown.  I saw her raise her hand and felt my crown chakra begin to spin wildly, and the white-gold light increase out of it and then hook up directly with the light coming from her hand.  As she opened her long, delicate fingers, I saw pearls of all colors sprinkling down from them directly into the opening in the top of my head.  I recognized the abalone pearls!  That was a jolt.  I'd had bought them a day before this.  I saw all the gray, green and black colors of the Tahitian pearls, and the softy, creamy white of the other pearls.  As she trickled these into my head, I felt them all come into my heart and come to rest there.  My heart felt very warm.  Then, I saw the pearls shoot, like July Fourth streamers trailing gold into all parts of my body; my arms, fingers, through my torso, into my legs, ankles, feet and toes.  I was alive with these pearls and their gold tails of energy emanating from my heart.
Overwhelmed with the joy and incredible sense of her loving, maternal energy, I saw her then come forward.  Two small conch shells appeared in her hands. She lay one on each of my shoulders.  Then, a beautiful abalone shell, opened to reveal its rainbow pearly depths, appeared next.  She approach closer and then I saw her hand come front to back where my heart lay.  I saw her press the abalone shell into my back and through the front, between my breasts, and into my beating heart.
"It is complete," she told me.
I sat there, rocking with her power, with her love, with her soft gentleness.  I really loved her energy and thought: I want to BE like that.  I want to be able to live my life in that space.  What a wonderful teacher she would become to me!
As I write up this true story at my computer, I happened to have gotten a phone call from a friend of mine in Seattle, Washington, and I was gazing at my altar to the right of me.  My eyes suddenly fixed on my Kwan-Yin statue that stands in the center of it.  Wrapped around the Chinese Goddess of Compassion is an abalone necklace with pink pony beads that was hand made and given to me as a gift by a friend of mine, Lori Ritchie, who died suddenly, two years ago.  She had made this gift to me just before she fell ill, and said that she had been told to make it for me.  So, Lori found oblong pieces of abalone shell, the lavender pony beads between each one and then drilled holes on each piece of abalone and carefully strung it with copper wire.  Wow.  How things come full circle.  My Kwan-Yin has worn her beautiful necklace since then.  Isn't it interesting how we are called by a spirit to train with them?  And it took me going to New Zealand, on a third trip, to be called strongly by her, and then to find her.  Wow.  I love how life and being in the "flow" brings us to the next stopping point, a station, where we can learn some more.

Barbara also, after hearing my story, once back at her home after our adventure, gifted me with a greenstone (New Zealand jade) dolphin and whale.  What wonderful gifts!  They now sit in my hogan to honor Niru and my initiation with her.

What has happened since then?  The day after I got home from New Zealand and the long flight, I went to my masseuse in Sedona, Alma Bocanegro, and guess what kind of beautiful New Age music she had on during the session?  Whale and dolphin music!!!!  Do we have a clue?  On a person level for one thing, each night before I sleep, I ask Niru to come to me, to teach me.  I have awakened each morning, feeling happy and knowing that she was there.  I don't remember what she is teaching me, but that's okay; it all is going into my subconscious house of treasures and will surface as 'knowing' when I need it.  Over the past week, my one wish is to remember my dreams and she has been showing me more and more every night, to my delight and she is allowing me to open that side to myself nightly and how I love this development!  And, a dear friend of mine wrote me a beautiful, healing letter now that she's on Ambra grisea--whale remedy!   I had bought a greenstone (New Zealand jade) dolphin over in New Zealand and now it sits on a piece of sea foam green Apophyllite on my altar....the same color of Niru--that beautiful apple-green color one sees as the ocean lifts her waves upward and the sun shines through it.  What a rainbow journey with Niru!  I wish you a beautiful and healing journey with her as well.....

There is no doubt in my heart that Niru, one of the "ancient ones", the group of gods and goddesses that were created when land was created upon Mother Earth, are coming back to awaken us, support us and help us--those of us who know how deeply Humankind is in trouble with harming Mother Earth and all her relations.  These old pantheon ancient spirits are as old as She is.  And they are powerful, subtle, loving and compassionate. These are not nasty gods and goddesses; these are the ones that have evolved to the highest order within their "career track", if you will, and now are reappearing to help us.  Niru is the original Rainbow Warrioress.  People drawn to work with her are no less than that--they are Rainbow Warriors for Mother Earth and all her relations.  They are peaceful warriors learning to live in their hearts and work with compassion with all that surrounds them.  It means those people are struggling to learn how to love on a much greater playing field than pity or sympathy.  To learn to be compassionate means that one rises above the fray, in a detached way (but not disconnected) and view the macrocosm and understand their part in the grand play that is unfolding down here right now.  If you feel in your heart that you, too, are a peaceful rainbow warrior, then read on to contact Niru.....

CALLING NIRU TO YOU

If you have the opportunity to get an abalone shell, a Conch, a periwinkle or cone-shaped shell--these are in her dominion, and are a sign you have serious intent in regards to working with her on your own behalf.  You can go to a rock shop locally, and get a piece of tumbled abalone shell; something small, the size of a nickel, for instance, and that is all you need.  (Or, if you can't find the pua (abalone shell) piece or an abalone shell, email me at docbones224@earthlink.net, and we have it for sale at a nominal price).  Or, if you have a pearl necklace or earrings, these too, are her 'calling card'.  Anyone who loves pearl (fresh or sea water), is in touch with Niru whether they know it or not :-).  Or, if you live on the ocean, go down to the shore and sit on the beach and call her.  Although her 'home' and base of operation is in New Zealand, she ranges worldwide without a problem.  She is, after all, the daughter of Mother Ocean and wherever there is ocean water, there is Niru.
abalone rainbow - Nauman
When you have yourself, your shell (calling card), put the shell or pearl(s) in your LEFT hand.  Sit comfortably (legs open, not crossed) or lie down (legs uncrossed).  If you are at home, choose a room where it is QUIET and UNDISTURBED.  Get the phone off 'ring', ask the children to stay out and ask your spouse to keep the children while you are engaged in this exercise.  If you want to put on some New Age music, or music that lulls and soothes you, on low volume in the background, do so.  If you want to light incense (we use sacred white sage), do so.  (Those who live near the beach, on a nice day, go sit on the beach, facing Mother Ocean).  And do the following:

1.  Close your eyes.

2.  Take a deep breath in your nostrils and take it as far down into your abdomen as you can.

3. Release it slowly and fully through your mouth.

4.  Do this three times

5.  Visualize silver tree roots winding gently around and around your ankles (not tightly, but comfortably) and see the point or end of the root going down through the center of your foot (this will not hurt) and diving deeply, at least 300 feet or 100 meters into Mother Earth.  We never do anything without being fully grounded first.

6.  Call Niru to you.  Give your name.  Tell her WHY you want her to come to you.  Then wait.  Be patient.  You may have to call her THREE times before she comes to you.  If nothing happens, don't be disappointed.  Just made a date the next night, to do the same meditation and try again.  It may take up to three nights in a row, but she will come to you.

7.  Once Niru has come to you (and trust me, you will KNOW that she's there, be humble and ask for a HEALING from her). And then, relax and let her work with you.

8.  Ask her what you can do for her after the healing.

Don't be surprised after this healing, that you suddenly start seeing whales, dolphins, rainbows, or shell jewelry, music, seeing rainbows or pictures with these items contained in them, because this is how she is 'talking' to you in your everyday world.  We call these 'double checks'--that she is proving to you that she is now with you and helping you.

Remember, you can ask Niru for help.  Now, if you want her to help you win the lottery, forget it.  She will respond to any request for you helping yourself become a more harmonious, balanced person.  She will help you with your blocks, your Shadow contents and aid you in working through this darkness so that you can be healed by it.

You can meditate daily with Niru.  Ask her to speak and teach you in your dream state.  She will come.

Always, always thank her for coming.  Be grateful for her presence in your life.  Be humble.  Be aware she's with you in spirit at all times, so if you have a problem, ask her to help you solve it or receive an answer. Then, stay alert because usually within hours and 48 hours at the most, she will 'double-check' you with some outer event or events that will show you the way.  If she does not, then do nothing in regards to this question because, perhaps, it is not time to ask it, or perhaps not time to decide upon it.  Ask later.

Niru is the ancient sea goddess daughter of the rainbow.  She brings us hope of healing through the colors of the rainbow, which mirror and reflect each of our chakras within ourselves.  She is a powerful healer because she has all colors with which to work with to heal us.  The first order of business of healing Mother Earth, is healing ourselves.  If we do this, the world instantly and continually becomes a better place to live, and the vibration is raised accordingly.  As we heal, so will Mom Earth.

Call Niru to you to begin this healing so that you can walk your own unique Rainbow path this lifetime....aho.....
